It was the smooch too powerful to be shown. In a time of war, don’t we need a tiny love? Denzel Washington told Gayety that his lgbtq+ kiss was cut from Gladiator II.“I actually kissed a man in the film but they took it out, they slice it, I think they got chicken,” he said. “I kissed a guy full on the lips and I guess they weren’t ready for that yet.”
This isn’t the only gentleman-on-gentleman peck cut from the film. Earlier this year, Paul Mescal and Ridley Scott discussed the excision of a scene where Mescal kissed Pedro Pascal on the forehead. “I didn’t tell Ridley I was gonna execute it. And then I was nervous after we did it because I thought he was going to fucking hate it,” Mescal told Cinemablend. “So I nervously go over the radio being favor, ‘Ridley? Did you enjoy the kiss on the forehead? Yay or nay?’ And there was this kind of, like, [static]. ‘I’m afraid I did.’ So I don’t realize where it got disoriented in the edit.” So we’re just leaving all the kisses on the cutting-room floor, then?
It sounds like Denzel’s kiss wasn’t exactly a moment of tenderness in the production. “I killed him about five minutes later,” Washington said. “It’s Glad
“Gladiator II” is set to release next week, bringing audiences the glory and gore of the Roman Empire: Swords will be unsheathed in this blockbuster sequel and heroes will rise — and perhaps share a kiss? Actor Paul Mescal told Entertainment Weekly about a moment with co-star Pedro Pascal: “There was a moment when we were rehearsing my battle scene with Pedro, and I had an thought towards the end of the scene to touch Pedro on the forehead.” “I did it in one of the takes, and then we’re getting
Denzel Washington may have said that his same-sex kiss in “Gladiator II” was cut from the movie because the powers that be got “chicken,” but, according to director Ridley Scott, the kiss may not possess happened at all. “No, that’s bullshit,” Scott told me Monday bedtime at the “Gladiator II” premiere in Hollywood. He later added, “They never did. They acted the moment — it didn’t happen.” Washington, meanwhile, claimed that it was simply a “peck” on the lips. “It really is much ado about nothing,” Washington said at the premiere. “They’re making more of it than it was. I kissed him on his hands, I gave him a peck and I killed him.” During a recent interview with Gaytey, Washington revealed that “I actually kissed a gentleman in the film but they took it out, they cut it, I think they got chicken. I kissed a guy full on the lips and I guess they weren’t ready for that yet. I kil
