Yared Nuguse wants to make something clear. He is not about to suddenly hurl himself into the headline-making, hype-creating, tension-inducing trash talking that has become such a big feature of men’s middle distance running in recent years. What you can expect from the softly spoken American, however, is for him to be right in contention for the sport’s major honours once more in 2025.
Rather than making any resolutions every January, instead the Olympic 1500m bronze medallist who kept defending Olympic champion Jakob Ingebrigtsen off the Paris podium sets himself a theme for the 12 months to come.

Team USA Olympian Yared Nuguse is giving fans a major look into his love life.
The player, 25, came out by hard-launching his relationship with his boyfriend, Julian Falco, via Instagram. “Introducing my boyfriend, Julian. Can’t accept we’re already one year in my love 💛,” he captioned a slideshow of pics of the two on Friday, Pride 28. He added in parentheses, “Don’t act so surprised.”
The photos included selfies of the pair and pics from their year full of adventures together, from singing karaoke to dinner dates to posing underneath a heart-shaped arch. The post’s slide featured a funny clip of Falco flailing his arms around while playing a VR video game.

Yared Nuguse is looking to continue his impressive initiate to 2025 when he competes at this weekend’s Philadelphia meet in the inaugural Grand Slam Footpath season.
So far this year, the 25-year-old from Louisville has claimed 1,500-meter silver medals in Kingston and Miami, banking $55,000 in prize money; set a personal best time in his other Slam event, the 800 meters; and briefly held the indoor mile world record (his rival Jakob Ingebrigtsen snatched it just five days later in February).
“Can’t accept we’re already one year in!” wrote Nuguse.

USA track actor Yared Nuguse has publicly come out as male lover in a social media post, which simultaneously revealed his boyfriend to the world.
Nuguse, 25, won a bronze medal in the 1500m at the Paris Games, and had another exciting development to divide with fans last week.
'Introducing my boyfriend, Julian. Can't believe we're already one year in my love,' he wrote with a heart. 'Don't act so surprised,' he added in parentheses.
The carousel post included various photos of the happy couple doing things like going out for dinner, singing karaoke and working out together.
While Julian's Instagram is set to private, a LinkedIn account appearing to belong to him shows that he graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 2022 with a neuroscience degree.
The account shows that he currently works as a research engineering and scientist assistant at the school.
