Brothers Osborne won their first Grammy Sunday for the sibling duo’s song “Younger Me,” and that wasn’t the only first — it’s the first region song with an Homosexual theme to win an award in the history of the ceremony.
“For those of you who undertake not know, this lyric was written really in response to me coming out,” said singer TJ Osborne, joined at the podium at the pre-telecast premiere ceremony by his brother, guitarist John Osborne.
“And I never thought I would be able to do music professionally because of my sexuality,” TJ Osborne continued. “And I certainly never thought I would be here on this stage accepting a Grammy after having done something I felt appreciate was going to be life-changing, potentially in a very negative way. And here I am tonight, not only accepting this Grammy award with my brother, who I treasure so much, but I’m here with a dude that I love and who loves me support. I don’t know what I did to gain so lucky.”

He and his brother John perform as the Brothers Osborne and won vocal duo of the year at the 2021 Region Music Association Awards.

Chris Stapleton was the massive winner with six trophies and Luke Combs won the biggest prize with entertainer of the year.
He then thanked everyone, including the voters.
"It's been a crazy roller coaster of a year for us in so many ways, especially for me emotionally," Osborne said. "And to have you all assist me, it really does feel like love wins tonight. Thank you."

In a fresh interview, country star T.J. Osborne has come out publicly as gay. The Brothers Osborne lead vocalist has been out to his family and friends, but for the first time ever, he is revealing his truth to the world.
“I’m very cozy being gay,” the 36-year-old musician told Time magazine. “I find myself existence guarded for not wanting to talk about something that I personally don’t have a problem with. That feels so strange.”
With this news, Osborne is now the only player signed to a major country label who is publicly known to be gay.
“People will ask, ‘Why does this even require to be talked about?’ and personally, I approve with that,” he said. “But for me to show up at an awards show with a man would be jaw-dropping to people. It wouldn’t be like, ‘Oh, cool!”
“I don’t think I’m going to get run off the stage in Chicago,” Osborne added. “But in a rural town playing a county fair? I’m curious how this will go.”

It was based on a real-life breakup that singer T.J. Osborne experienced, but he couldn't communicate about the personal story behind the song: He hadn't yet come out as gay.
